WildTurtle Becomes Second North American to Achieve 1,000 Career Kills
Jason “WildTurtle” Tran has bagged his one thousandth LCS regular season kill, marking him as the second North American to do so since the NA LCS debuted in 2013.
WildTurtle rejoined Team SoloMid when Peter “Doublelift” Peng announced his hiatus from competitive play, essentially signing to the roster as a long-standing substitute. He initially became a part of TSM’s League of Legends lineup in 2013 but was later replaced by Doublelift towards the end of 2015, when he then moved on to Immortals.
Ironically, it was Doublelift that was the first North American to achieve his one thousandth kill in the LCS, who did so during a nail-biting team fight in TSM’s final match of the 2016 Spring Split against NRG Esports. As amusing as the continued irony would be if WildTurtle also scored his thousandth kill against NRG’s ADC, the team was disbanded after they were unfortunately bumped out of the NA LCS in a relegation match.
No, WildTurtle’s milestone kill was Austin “Gate” Yu, support for Echo Fox. After 215 regular season games, the kill was bagged in a much less intense manner than Doublelift’s: TSM’s jungler, Dennis “Svenskeren” Johnsen and support, Vincent “Biofrost” Wang, teamed up on Gate with WildTurtle near TSM’s blue buff to take him out in little more than a few seconds.
If anything, the achievement is little more than a mile marker for his career. While he may be more well-known for charming smiles and carrying the TSM Kitchen Curse, WildTurtle is a true seasoned veteran of competitive League of Legends, having competed in three World Championships and one Mid-Season Invitational since beginning his competitive career in 2011 with Forty Bus Gaming. He reached his 500th LCS kill in Week 4 of the 2015 Spring Split against Gravity.
