Ultra Street Fighter 2 comes to Nintendo Switch on May 26!
The release of the Nintendo Switch is right around the corner! Make sure to tune in to The Grind this Friday at 1 P.M. EST for a live un-boxing of the console!
For those who were hoping to enjoy the newest iteration of the Street Fighter 2 series, however, you’ll have to wait about three more months. Earlier yesterday, the Street Fighter team dropped the release date for Ultra Street Fighter 2: The Final Challengers, which features all-new gameplay modes and a slightly expanded roster. The game will hit stores, retail and online alike, on May 26, 2017 with a price tag of $39.99.

The game can be played with updated HD graphics or the nostalgic 8-bit style from the 1990s. As far as character balance goes, it was never clarified if the new version would introduce adjustments to the characters’ movesets, though a new meta is highly possible due to the inclusion of Evil Ryu and Violent Ken. For the most part, they play similar to their original counterparts with some differences. Watch this breakdown by Maximilian for a firsthand look at their capabilities.
We’ll be watching closely to see if Ultra Street Fighter 2 develops a following of its own. Until then, follow this blog and the pages below to stay updated on all news about the SF franchise!
