The @ESL Brooklyn Beatdown returns to New York for Round 2!

The Brooklyn Beatdown makes its return to New York in mid-September, courtesy of ESL!

Like with last year, the featured title for Brooklyn Beatdown is none other than Street Fighter V, which is currently the most successful title dominating the fighting game community. Up to 256 players will gather at Barclays Center to compete for the title of Brooklyn Beatdown Champion, along with their share of a $50,000 prize pool!

In 2016, the first Brooklyn Beatdown came down to an epic Grand Finals between Xiao Hai and Momochi. With Xiao Hai in Winner’s Bracket, he’d held quite an advantage over his opponent, but it proved almost irrelevant when Momochi practically shattered him like a glass crystal in the first set, thus prompting a bracket reset. However, Xiao Hai managed to make a drastic recovery in order to defeat Momochi and win the tournament.

Will Xiao Hai return to defend his crown, or will the throne be passed to another?!

Before the main attraction, however, ESL will host online brackets for a multitude of regions, and they will all be free to enter. The winners of these qualifiers will be flown out to New York to take part in the Beatdown. Their flight, registration and hotel accommodation will be accounted for as part of the prizing.

Qualifiers will cover the following regions:

  • North America
  • Europe
  • Southeast Asia
  • India
  • South America

As of now, no qualifiers are available, but once that changes, they should be live up at this page. As per tournament standard for the Street Fighter community, the Playstation 4 will be the primary platform for players to compete on.

As for the Beatdown itself, players can visit this page to submit their registration. However, in order to enter the Barclays Center, you’ll need to purchase a separate ticket, similar to the process used for the EVO finals at Mandalay Bay back in July. To do that, go to ESL’s official website.

We’re excited for the second round of Brooklyn Beatdown, and we hope you are as well! For more updates on the event, follow our blog and the pages below:
