Sub-Zero comes to @InjusticeGame 2 on July 11th
As readers will recall from this article, the Grandmaster of the Lin Kuei got his chance to shine in part to a reveal trailer that NRS dropped at last week’s E3 (Electronic Entertainment Expo) in Los Angeles. The trailer showcased Sub-Zero’s moveset in all its Antarctic glory, as well as information on when the character will be welcomed to Injustice 2 as a playable fighter – next month, to be exact.
Yesterday, further clarification was provided on Sub-Zero’s release date. On July 11th, fans will be able to draw upon the ice ninja’s capabilities in Injustice 2.

As you’ll notice from the clip, Sub-Zero’s moveset appears to be a copy-and-paste from Mortal Kombat X with particular emphasis on the Cryomancer variation, whilst introducing tweaks that allow the character to fit right into the Injustice universe. These tweaks include an edited animation for his B3 launcher, a new effect on one of his enhanced specials, and even a change to his clone attacks – one such example being when he spends a bar to produce two clones mid-air.
It is not clear as to which of his skills are tied to gear or not, though we don’t suggest hoping for these abilities to be gear-specific as there is currently a ban on such skills. Additionally, with his release date set three days before the beginning of EVO 2017, it is likely he will not be tournament-legal at that time.
We suggest keeping a close eye on Mr. Ed Boon’s Twitter page for more details, as we’re expecting to see details on a Watchtower stream where Sub-Zero will be showcased.
In case you missed it, Red Hood, the first DLC fighter to be released before Sub-Zero, is now available for the Playstation 4 and Xbox One consoles. If you’ve purchased the Digital Deluxe Edition or Ultimate Edition of the game, you should have immediate access to him. If not, you will have to buy him separately. To do so, visit the Extras menu and click on the Playstation Store or Xbox Live menu. Alternatively, select his portrait at the character select screen to trigger the option for a purchase.
