Report: Team Liquid to Trade Hiko for OpTic’s Stanislaw [UPDATE]

UPDATE: Team Liquid has confirmed that they have acquired stanislaw for their CS:GO team; there is no word on Hiko’s status with the organization.

The original story can be read below:

Peter “stanislaw” Jarguz will be traded to Team Liquid for Spencer “Hiko” Martin, according to a report by Slingshot’s Jarek “DeKay” Lewis.

Hiko joined the Counter-Strike scene back in 1.6 with Temporary, but has only been a part of Team Liquid’s starting lineup since 2015. The team captain is best known for his solo site play and skills as a lurker, but has not seen many victories since leaving Maximum Effort to join the team. Team Liquid saw several first place finished in their first months together, but have since regularly found themselves in 5th-8th place at several premier tournaments. Team Liquid most recently came in 9th-11th in the ELEAGUE Major, and 4th at the DreamHack Masters Las Vegas North American qualifier.

Meanwhile, stanislaw has seen a similar level of success in his time spent with OpTic Gaming. Since joining the team as their support in January of 2016, they have only come in top place finishes at minor events, and qualifiers. Premier level events, such as ESL One: Cologne 2016 and DreamHack Winter 2016, have seen them rank low in the standings. Similarly to Team Liquid, OpTic placed 12th-14th at the ELEAGUE Major this year. However, recent months have appeared to be looking up for the team, as they took first place at ELEAGUE Season 2 and second in the ECS Season 2 finals in December.

Citing anonymous sources who are close to the team, the report does not go into detail about why the two players have decided to leave their teams, or what the agreement entailed. However, despite their recent successes, the report came hot on the heels of OpTic Gaming’s most recent episode of Vision, where OpTic rifler Will “RUSH” Wierzba claimed that stanislaw made a sudden decision to leave the team without warning his teammates in advance.

“We knew there were some talks going on, but we thought he would stay with us because we talked to him about it,” RUSH explained, “Hector talked to him, and we thought everything was cool. And then, all of a sudden, out of the blue, this comes. And, honestly, it hurts. It hurts a lot.”

“I don’t even know what issues he has. I’m not sure. But I really wish that he would have came and talked to me, or even Óscar.”

Hiko, stanislaw, OpTic, nor Team Liquid have commented on the report at time of publish.
