Registration for @CEOGaming 2017 concludes with 2,311 entrants!

Registration for CEO 2017 closed last night, but not before a sudden surge in the number of entrants as players rushed to jump through that window of opportunity before it closed.

Here’s how crazy the last days of registration were: before the previous weekend came around, CEO’s Smash.GG page barely cracked a thousand registrants. That number skyrocketed up to approximately 2,000 on Saturday, and by the time Sunday came to an end, the final number sat at 2,311.

If that isn’t hype enough for you, then get ready for this: a while back, Mr. Jebailey revealed that the players signed up came from forty-two states and twenty-one countries. Given the increase in participants, we can now expect to see representation from forty-seven states and twenty-nine countries…WOW!

A total of eleven titles will be featured at Orlando this year! See below for a small chart detailing the entrant counts per game, as well as pot bonuses where applicable:

  • Super Smash Bros. Wii-U – 605 entrants
  • Street Fighter V ($15,000 pot bonus) – 539 entrants
  • Injustice 2 ($20,000 pot bonus) – 392 entrants
  • Super Smash Bros. Melee – 290 entrants
  • Tekken 7 ($10,000 pot bonus) – 241 entrants
  • Guilty Gear XRD Revelator 2 – 146 entrants
  • Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 – 137 entrants
  • Pokken Tournament ($5,000 pot bonus) – 123 entrants
  • Killer Instinct ($5,000 pot bonus) – 75 entrants
  • BlazBlue: Central Fiction – 74 entrants
  • The King of Fighters XIV – 65 entrants

Also, as Rick “TheHadou” Thither can attest to, CEO 2017 will serve as a qualifier for a staggering number of competitive circuits. These include the Capcom Pro Tour, Injustice 2 Pro Series, Tekken World Tour, Burst League, Curleh Circuit and so on! Participate in any game and if you perform well enough, you could earn yourself a shot at a world championship later in the year!

We have reached out to Mr. Jebailey for his thoughts on what we can expect to see at CEO this year. Look forward to a future post detailing an interview with the man himself!

While it is no longer possible to acquire competitor badges for CEO, spectators can still come check out the event by purchasing a pass at the venue itself on the weekend of the event. Be mindful that three-day passes are limited at five-hundred purchasers. Also, if you’re looking to reserve a hotel room, the Wyndham Resort is sold out but you can contact Hawthorne Suites to receive a similar rate as a participant for CEO – more on that here.

Although this will be the final year that CEO’s main event finds a home at the Wyndham Resort, Jebailey and company plan to relocate to the Ocean Center at Daytona Beach next year (you can read about that here). However, all sibling events will continue to be featured at the Wyndham.

As a reminder, CEO is now sponsored by GEICOGaming! If you missed out on the news, see this post. The StreamMe team will also be present at CEO to host the Pop-Up Tour, which will provide side tournaments with interesting twists to be broadcast at stream.me/popuptour. For more details, see the GauntletGG website.

We are greatly excited for CEO this year, especially with over 2,000 players competing for pot bonuses and spots in brackets for championship events! If you are unable to attend, at least make sure to check out the streams because frankly, missing any second of the event is a sin. For more news on CEO, please follow this blog and the pages below:
