Pre-Release Build for @OmenofSorrow is playable at @EVO 2017!

A new contender for the fighting game lineup, called Omen of Sorrow, is in development by AOne Games. Powered by Unreal Engine 4, it’s a 2D four-button fighter inspired by tales of mythological creatures, set in the 1800s. As stated explicitly in their bio, the game will place emphasis on the player’s skill instead of statistics or random factors.

Those attending EVO this weekend will have an opportunity to try a demo for Omen of Sorrow! Keep an eye out for a booth occupied by the team from AOne Games if you’re looking to get your hands on the product. Up to four playable characters will be featured in the build:

  • Caleb
  • Gabriel
  • Zafkiel
  • Vladislav (updated version of a vampire character that was previously revealed)

As many as twelve characters will complete the roster once the game is officially launched. No release date has been given at this time, though we do know that it’s coming to Playstation 4 and possibly the PC given AOne’s specialty.

Omen of Sorrow was first revealed at last year’s Playstation Experience in Anaheim, California, and boy did they have a glorious trailer for the game! The graphics are captivating and the gameplay looks exceptionally smooth!

Taken from the official website for AOne Games:

Omen of Sorrow is a classic 2D, four-button fighting game, with Unreal Engine 4 powered graphics, a cast of 12 characters inspired by classical horror, fantasy and mythology, and a battle system designed from the ground up to leverage player skill, rather than stats or random chance, featuring deep combat mechanics that favor movement and spacing over tight execution to provide an engaging experience for pros and newcomers alike!

Using a netcode technique called rollback (GGPO), we’ll provide you with a near-lagless online experience. You’ll also be able to fight your friends in Local Multiplayer; having someone in the same physical space when playing a game is a very different experience than playing with them over the internet, you know that, and so do we.

  • ☠ Master its hardcore combat mechanics
  • ☠ Compete Online
  • ☠ Fight your friends in Local Multiplayer.
  • ☠ Choose among 12 iconic characters from myth and legend.

Online and offline players are sure to be pleased by the final product. If you’re currently at EVO and you manage to get a hands-on impression of the game, please let us know your thoughts on Twitter!
