PR Balrog Announces He Is Leaving Evil Geniuses

Twenty-nine-year-old Street Fighter V competitor Eduardo “PR Balrog” Perez announced that he is leaving Evil Geniuses to pursue new opportunities for himself.

PR Balrog made the announcement on Twitter saying, “After 4 amazing years being with EG, I’ll be going solo in 2017 Thank you Evil Geniuses for the journey.” He also included a heartfelt goodbye video, which you can catch below.

PR Balrog’s contract with Evil Geniuses is set to expire on December 31st of this year, so, in the ‘Should I stay or should I go’ moment, he obviously chose to not renew it for 2017. However, he made it clear that this was not a decision made lightly. PR Balrog says that he feels it is time for him gather his own sponsorship and further brand himself, describing the decision as one that was made for personal growth, and stated that his departure from the team was on good terms – that he has nothing but love for the company.

“EG has been basically like my mom and dad when I came here to the US, and they’ve kept me up ever since, so I gotta give a great, great, great, great thank you to them. Because, if it wasn’t for them, I wouldn’t be here.”

“I basically want to gather sponsors for myself instead of being on a team,” he said in the video before continuing to clarify that, as much as he has appreciated his time with Evil Geniuses, his choice to move forward on his own was to build his own brand as opposed to relying on the organization. He also emphasized that the announcement does not mean that he will be retiring, despite his fanbase’s habit of making jokes about the Street Fighter player retiring at his expense.

Now that his four-year career with Evil Geniuses will be officially coming to an end, Stream.Me would like to wish PR Balrog the best of luck in all his future adventures.
