PHiZZURP Dies In Car Accident
Call of Duty veteran and beloved esports icon Phillip “PHiZZURP” Klemenov has died at age 23 due to injuries received in a car accident.
The news first made waves within the community when Adrianna Lemuss posted a video to Twitter on Sunday, where she explained that Phil lost control of the vehicle he was driving with Lemuss and his best friend. According to her statement, and a report posted by the Aurora Police Department, the car rolled several times while striking a light pole and multiple trees before coming to a stop on a sidewalk. The third individual was pronounced dead at the scene, and Klemenov died shortly after at 9:35 a.m.
“I was the only one that was conscious so I crawled out of the car and I tried to pull him out,” said Lemuss in her video, “We got to the hospital and his best friend was dead. They tried to help Phil but they couldn’t. He died in my arms and I just want to let you guys know he was a great guy and he did not deserve it.”
The police report claims that alcohol and speed appeared to be factors in the fatal accident, but Lemuss rejected those claims, saying that she and Klemenov’s friend were the only ones that had been drinking. A toxicology report has yet to be released.
Klemenov most recently played for H2K Gaming, who expressed their sorrow and support for his loved ones not long after the news was posted. Tyler “FeLonY” Johnson, a former teammate from their time spent together on XGN Competitive’s Call of Duty roster, has set up a GoFundMe account on behalf of the grieving family to assist with funeral costs.
