Netcode patch for PS4 version of @Tekken 7 is live!

Bandai Namco’s Tekken team has launched their netcode patch for the Playstation 4 version of Tekken 7! Similar adjustments will be rolled out to the PC and Xbox One versions next week. If you haven’t logged on to your PS4 in a while, then when you boot it up you should see a Version 1.02 update for Tekken begin to download. Update file should be 723.8 MB in size.

Over at the official Tekken website, the Tekken team put up a page detailing exactly what the netcode patch entails. You can read about them here, but we’ll be generous and perform a copy-and-paste.

Patch #1 Improvements Log:
Improved Online Matching Functionality

1.    The following player information will no longer be displayed before a match:
–    Character selected
–    Wins
–    Rank
–    Title

2.    Connection with other players can be established more consistently

3.    Improved Stability
–    Addition of ON/OFF feature for voice chat
–    ON/OFF for voice chat added to OPTION menu.
–    Set to OFF as default setting.
–    Nina’s Ivory Cutter attack properties.

Given the details above, you should no longer see information about your opponent until you’ve entered a match. It should also be easier for you to connect to players in lobbies, random player matches and ranked matches. Additionally, you now have the option to disable voice chat for online gameplay in the Option menu. The default setting for this command is OFF.

What’s interesting is that a note to the properties of Nina’s Ivory Cutter has also been included. Could this mean a change in frame data? Nina players will have to lab this out and see.

Again, keep in mind that these changes have only been applied to the PS4 version for now, but Xbox One and PC players will not have to wait much longer to receive this patch. It is expected to roll out around June 12th.
