MKXL or Injustice 2: Which do you want for EVO 2017?

With January 2017 around the corner, the fighting game community is preparing for an inevitable announcement regarding the line-up of games that will be featured at the annual championship event, Evolution.

However, we may have just been given a glimpse at the amount of space to be taken up by titles designed by NetherRealm Studios.

Just over an hour ago, MrWizard took to Twitter to release a poll that would set a torch ablaze. That post is below.

In this post, MrWizard asks the NRS player base that if there was room for only one of their titles at EVO, which title would they prefer? Predictably, he leaves us with two choices: Mortal Kombat XL or Injustice 2. As the above image indicates, there have already been a thousand votes sent in, and it’s only been an hour. We expect to see more as time elapses.

It’s important to keep in mind that, in spite of the recent video reveal of an updated Supergirl’s gameplay, a release date has not yet been announced for Injustice 2, so it remains unclear if it will be available in time for a spot on the EVO roster. However, players familiar with NRS’s release history will recall how MK9, Injustice 1 and MKX all shared the month of April as their release dates. If this streak continues, we will see the arrival of Injustice 2 at least three months before EVO happens.

Anyway, this poll makes us wonder about the future of MKX and Injustice 2. MKX may very well see a third year at EVO alongside its new sibling…or Injustice 2 may be dancing a solo at the world stage. Until the reveal of EVO’s roster, all we can do is speculate.

EVO 2017 returns to Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas on July 14-16! Registration is not live just yet, but you can follow EVO’s Twitter to stay updated. You are also invited to check out this epic trailer about the next chapter in EVO’s history. BE WARNED: watching it may leave you delirious from hype.

What do you think, readers? Does this poll destroy or entertain the possibility of two NRS titles sharing the stage at EVO? Let us know your thoughts!
