Meteos Subs in for Inori on Phoenix1
On account of Rami “Inori” Charagh returning to his home in Vancouver for personal reasons, Cloud9’s William “Meteos” Hartman will be acting as a substitute jungler for Phoenix1 in Week 5 of the NA LCS.
“Inori has returned to Vancouver to take care of a personal matter, and therefore cannot participate in this weekend’s matches. Fortunately, William ‘Meteos’ Hartman has graciously agreed to sub in for our team on extremely short notice. He even cleared his schedule to scrim with our team this week. A huge thank you to Meteos, and I hope everyone reading this cheers him on this weekend.”
Normally, it would be a conflict of interest to allow a loaned player from another team to compete against their home team, which would be set to happen in Week 5 when Phoenix1 played against Cloud9, but it was made clear in a report by theScore esports that P1 purchased Meteos’s contract from C9 for cash. The move will bind Meteos to Phoenix1 for a minimum of three competitive weeks, per section 4.1.6 of the NA LCS rules, unless Riot grants permission for Meteos to return to Cloud9 earlier.
Meteos was recently moved to a substitute position on Cloud9’s roster to make room for LCS rookie Juan “Contractz” Arturo Garcia. Although it’s all but guaranteed that Meteos’s stay with Phoenix1 is temporary, this will be the first time Meteos has been apart from Cloud9 since 2013.
Phoenix1 will be starting off Week 5 with a shaky 4-4 record that ties them for fourth place with Immortals and Echo Fox. Their next game will be played against Team EnVyUs later today at 9:00 pm EST, and will compete against Cloud9 on Sunday at 6:00 pm, who currently holds the lead with an undefeated 8-0 record.
