Krillin and Piccolo confirmed for Dragonball Fighter Z!

Earlier this week, the latest issue of V-Jump, a Japanese magazine advertising the latest news on games and manga, revealed the next two characters joining the roster for Dragonball Fighter Z – Krillin and Piccolo.

The issue also depicts the base stats of both characters. Much like how characters in Street Fighter have differing health values, damage outputs and such, a similar system is followed by the characters in DBFZ.

Below are the stats for Krillin and Piccolo, as well as summaries of their fighting styles.

  • Power: 2
  • Speed: 3
  • Reach: 1
  • Technique: 4
  • Energy: 4

Analysis: Krillin has little in the way of damage and attack range, but can use a variety of techniques including the Kamehameha which should address the challenge of fighting from a distance. Other techniques he can utilize include the Afterimage Technique and the Destructo Disc.

  • Power: 3
  • Speed: 2
  • Reach: 4
  • Technique: 4
  • Energy: 3

Analysis: Piccolo’s attack range is the opposite of Krillin’s: frighteningly extensive. He can extend his arms to grab the opponent from a distance as well as utilize charge techniques. He has plenty of methods to bypass the opponent’s defense. He can fire a projectile at high speed or charge it for a stronger attack. Should he connect his Ki Blast during a combo, the damage it deals is increased.

Additionally, the post reveals a detail about the game’s online functionality, which takes a page from the book of the Guilty Gear XRD series (which is to be expected as both games share the same developer). Players will control chibi versions of their characters and manuever to lobbies to battle against one another.

Along with Krillin and Piccolo, the following characters have been confirmed for Dragonball Fighter Z:

  • Goku
  • Vegeta
  • Trunks
  • Frieza
  • Majin Buu
  • Gohan
  • Cell

As a reminder, the game is due for release on Playstation 4, Xbox One and PC in early 2018. Players can register for a closed beta on the console versions starting July 26th – more on that here.
