HTC Reveals Trailer for Team Liquid Movie
Documentaries, while somewhat underappreciated, are nothing new to eSports. The immensely popular Free to Play, which followed the experiences of individuals in The International 2011, was published to the official Valve YouTube channel in 2014. The Foreigner told the story of what it means to be a non-Korean in competitive StarCraft II, which is almost entirely dominated by South Korean players. The Smash Brothers covered the camaraderie, and intense rivalry, that encompasses the vastly underrepresented Super Smash Bros. eSports scene.
HTC Esports, who has been one of the biggest corporate supporters of professional gaming, has announced the next to join the collection with the trailer for Breaking Point.
Slated to release on November 2nd, Breaking Point will show fans the behind the scenes of Team Liquid’s post-Spring Split boot camp in South Korea. It showcases the trials and tribulations that the players endured as they struggled to work past synergy and behavioral troubles that plagued the team both in and out of game.
“What was going to be a really productive bootcamp, ended up turning into a complete behavioral disaster.”
The documentary will provide fans with insight to how the team handled Chae “Piglet” Gwang-jin’s role swap from AD Carry, as well as Joshua “Dardoch” Harnett’s benching due to what Team Liquid described as, “Team dynamics issues.” This will be a continuation of HTC’s Team Liquid Rebirth series, which kicked off in 2015 and consists of twenty-two minute episodes that shed light on what it means to eat, sleep and breathe League of Legends.
