How to qualify for the Injustice 2 World Championship by @EL

If you recall back in early June, ELEAGUE followed up the conclusion of their SFV invitational with an announcement that Injustice 2 would be the next fighting game to have its time in the spotlight, on both their Internet streams and the TBS network.

As of this week, we now have a little more information regarding the players that will participate in this contest. The ELEAGUE bracket will consist of sixteen players, all of whom must complete specific feats in order to qualify.

The post above provides a graphic that details how the players will qualify for the Injustice 2 World Championship. To keep it simple, here’s the requirements:

  • you must be ranked in the Top 8 portion of the rankings for the Injustice 2 Pro Series (see this page to review the standings)
  • you must place within the Top 2 at Hometown Heroes, an online tournament series brought to you by Gamestop and ESL
  • you must place within the Top 2 from the Injustice Path to Pro series, a European circuit also brought to you by ESL
  • you must be ranked in the Top 2 for the Liga Latina Injustice 2 Series, an online circuit hosted in Latin America

The last two must earn their way into the championship by placing 1st or 2nd in a last-minute qualifier that will be organized by ELEAGUE. This qualifier will kick off the World Championship on October 21st, with the official bracket following a day after.

Once our sixteen players are finalized, they will be split into two groups of eight. These competitors will fight to reduce the size of each group to two players by eliminating their opponents in best-of-five double elimination sets. Afterward, the four finalists – two from each group – will partake in a final four-man bracket where the Injustice 2 World Champion will be crowned.

Up to $250,000 in cash prizes will be up for grabs at the World Championship. Matches will be randomly selected to be featured live on TBS as the event progresses.

As we are now entering the month of August, these next two months will prove highly crucial for those hoping to qualify for the World Championship. Make sure to enter all related events and earn as many points as you possibly can!

ELEAGUE is a huge entity in esports brought to you by Turner Sports, a Time Warner company; and WME IMG, a global leader for entertainment, sports and fashion industries operating across thirty countries. They’d previously organized a 32-man invitational event for Street Fighter V, from which PG Punk emerged the victor. Check out the results here.

Good luck to all competitors! For more updates on ELEAGUE, please follow our blog as well as the pages below:
