Hamburg to Host EU LCS Spring Finals

The finals for the 2017 European LCS will be held in Hamburg, Germany, according to a video posted by the official League of Legends eSports Twitter account.

Slated for the 22nd and 23rd of April, the Barclaycard Arena will act as host for the climax of the European circuit. The chosen arena, which is not to be confused with the Barclaycard Arena in Birmingham, will also hold ESL One Hamburg 2017 in late October. The arena boasts a maximum capacity of 16,000 people and approximately 13,000-13,800 for certain sporting events.

The 2017 EU LCS Spring Split is currently in week 4, with G2 and Unicorns of Love taking the lead in their respective groups with solid 5-0 scores. The team that claims first place will advance onward to the grand finale of the 2017 spring season, the Mid-Season Invitational, which is set to be played in Brazil.

Last year’s spring finals were held at the Rotterdam Ahoy arena in Rotterdam, Netherlands. G2 took first place in a clean 3-1 sweep against Origen, but fell short of expectations when they nearly game in dead last at MSI 2016. It turned out to be SK Telecom T1, who went on to champion the overall 2017 competitive season, that would claim victory in a savage 3-0 beatdown of North American tournament favorites Counter Logic Gaming.
