Get ready for @DreamHack Atlanta this weekend – July 21-23!

“Well, EVO’s over. Time to go on a break from fighting games, I guess.”

Hold the phone here! Now that EVO is behind us, you think you’re taking a hiatus? Sorry, but the hype train stops for nobody.

If you happen to live in or near Atlanta, keep grinding your favorite game. This weekend, DreamHack comes to Atlanta with a stacked lineup of the world’s biggest esports titles, and the fighting game community is invited!

What is DreamHack? It is the world’s largest digital festival featuring high-quality esports events, LAN parties and even cosplayers. The event originated in Sweden after K2-ICE and DH_admin rented out a school cafeteria for a weekend of hacking and coding. Since that occasion, it has grown into a monstrous sensation all around the world. 2017 marks DreamHack’s first sojourns into America, where events for Montreal and Texas have been featured. Atlanta is the third location on their list!

Gamers aren’t the only ones getting emphasis at DreamHack, either. A collection of the Internet’s most known celebrities have taken time from their schedule to show up at these events whenever they happen. As an example, you’ll be treated to some amazing musical performances featuring Waka Flocka Flame along with special guests.

The event takes place at the Georgia World Congress Center on July 21-23 in Atlanta. If your interest lies in fighting games, it should please you to know that the event will feature Street Fighter V, Injustice 2, both Smash titles and Tekken 7.

All of the games we’ve named will also feature pot bonuses at varying amounts! They are as follows:

  • $10,000 for Smash Melee (Singles)
  • $10,000 for Smash Wii-U (Singles)
  • $5,000 for Street Fighter V
  • $2,500 for Injustice 2
  • $2,500 for Tekken 7

So how do you sign up? Well, while you’ll use Smash.GG to register for your games of choice, you’ll be required to purchase a separate ticket from DreamHack Atlanta’s official website. Prices are as low as $20 for one-day visitor passes, but they will increase depending on the length of your stay. As a competitor, we advise purchasing the three-day Visitor Pass for $45 to take part in their events.

To purchase your ticket, head over here. To register for the games you wish to compete in, visit Be quick about it because according to Jebailey, registration closes early Thursday morning!

Want a sneak peek into the competition you’ll get to watch this weekend?! Here’s a list of names we’ve glimpsed from the Attendants tab at DHATL’s SmashGG page.

  • Liquid HungryBox (Smash Melee)
  • Circa Forever King (Injustice 2)
  • RNG Dabuz (Smash Wii-U)
  • StreamMe Anakin (Tekken 7)
  • PG Punk (Street Fighter V)

And there’s plenty more where they came from! Visit here for the full list of attendants for DHATL.

Doubles for Smash Melee and Wii-U will kick off the event this Friday. All other tournaments will follow on Saturday. Set-ups will be provided by the DreamHack team. If players wish to contribute or simply play casuals, they are allowed to bring their own equipment. Details on the schedule can be found at DHATL’s Smash.GG page.

Thanks to all of the tournament administrators working to bring us the next chapter in DreamHack’s legacy, including Mr. Alex Jebailey, creator of the CEO tournament series!
