Gears Of Wars 4 Celebrates Valentine’s Day With You, Also Two New Maps
If you are loving Gears of War 4 then the Microsoft and Coalition people have a romantic gesture for you. They are doing a sweet Valentine’s Day event that will take your breath away.
“Roses are red, violets are blue, Torque Bows for me, and Torque tags for you!”
Starting this weekend, Gears fans will be able to download the February update which adds “two new maps, a week-long Valentine’s event, new Gear Packs to collect and further improvements to the game.” Microsoft outlined all the info and special news about upcoming features, on their blog.
Gears has, like many AAA games recently, embraced the Holidays. Throwing new events and items to fans during what they have planned, and this Valentine’s Day is no different. Starting on February 10th it will be the beginning of over a week of Valentine’s Day celebrations, with “New Gear Packs to earn, daily Valentine’s themed bounties, another Craftable Character to collect, and the much-requested return of Torque Bow Tag.” Which will of course have a “Cupid style twist” to it, however, was not explained as of yet so fans will just have to wait and see.
The Coalition also added two new Multiplayer maps, Impact Dark, and reimagined War Machine. As you can see from the trailer above Impact Dark has a pretty big haunting feel to it. The new nighttime setting for the map doesn’t just bring a new ambience. Visibility is permanently reduced by smoke that has settled over the battlefield, this will force player to get a little closer to each other. Every weapon swap has been changed to alter the flow of the map as well, “Snipers are now replaced with Boltoks, Dropshot replaces Torque/EMBAR and the Overkill now sits where Incendiaries used to.”
War Machine is loved by probably every Gears of War veteran, and the classic is back with a brand new look. Moving away from the old abandoned train station locale, War Machine is now set in a new COG Settlement, standing out with its pristine appearance, again seen in the trailer above. Despite this new setting, everything fans know and love about the map is still here. They haven’t change the old feel to it, just the look. The frantic opening fight for the Sniper, the intense fight for Torque around the pillars and, of course, the ever-important turret on top to dominate enemies that stray too far into the open.
Best part is both of these maps are available to play today in the Developer Playlist for Season Pass Holders. Everyone else will just have to wait until February 10th. Happy Valentine’s Day Gears fans!
