Here’s a refresher course on how the Proving Grounds works. On the first Saturday of every month in the Fall Season (August, September and October), players will compete in regional qualifiers across North America to collect league points which will improve their standings. Each region will have its own leaderboard. The game to be featured in all qualifiers is none other than Street Fighter V.
A total of twelve regions will be featured in the Proving Grounds, one of which will be decided by way of a collection of online qualifiers. The competition will be divided into two categories: East and West. Six regions from each side will participate in the Proving Grounds. The online qualifiers will take the side of the West region.
At the end of the season, each region’s top three players will qualify for a 3-vs-3 team tournament, which will occur at the Red Bull Esports studio in Santa Monica, California. The winning teams will be flown out by Red Bull themselves to participate in the finals. The last team standing will receive $6,000 – that’s $2,000 per player – and their region will be crowned the Red Bull Proving Grounds Champion.
Below is the list of regions to be featured in all qualifiers for the Fall Season (not counting the online events):
- Orlando, Florida
- Toronto, Ontario, Canada
- Seattle, Washington
- Houston, Texas
- San Francisco, California
- Los Angeles, California
- Vancouver, British Colombia, Canada
- Chicago, Illinois
- Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
- Atlanta, Georgia
- Montreal, Quebec, Canada
In the Spring Season, the winning group, Team Philadelphia, consisted of PIE Kami, DCB Darkchild and SB JB. These players won fully paid trips to EVO 2017 for their region as a result of their victory over Team Los Angeles. Will they defend their crown this season, or will a new team of kings rise up to replace them?!
