Evil Geniuses Returns to Call of Duty
Two years after the unfortunate disbanding of what was widely regarded as one of the best Call of Duty teams in North America, Evil Geniuses have announced that they have chosen to embrace the scene once more with Infinite Warfare.
Leading the team is Anthony “NAMELESS” Wheeler, who most recently played as a part of Luminosity Gaming. His time spent on teams such as Team EnVyUs, OpTic Nation and compLexity Gaming has marked him as one of the better-known Call of Duty players in his region, and expressed an unrepressed excitement towards joining Evil Geniuses to bring back the EG Dynasty.
“Being a part of EG is honestly a dream come true to a pro gamer,” wrote NAMELESS, “They’re one of the best organizations across all esports, and they’ve had some of the best teams. And there’s reasons behind that – they have some of the best sponsors, and their management is always working with the players, to enable them and make sure that they’re focusing on playing the game and getting better.”
With such an intense reputation to live up to, some question the team’s ability to hold up the EG reputation, as this will be the first time that the roster will be together on a team. However, Evil Geniuses Managing Director Peter “PPD” Dager has no such concerns.
“I’m thrilled to make EG a part of the Call of Duty family once again,” said PPD in a statement released to the EG website, “Hearing what Activision has planned for this year, along with finding such a talented squad with Nameless as their captain, it was a no-brainer.”
Jared “Nagafen” Harrell told TheScore Esports that he hopes to work on his in-game communication during his time with Evil Geniuses, and that he absolutely recognizes the pressure that will be put on the team to perform, stating, “Definitely feel like we have some big shoes to fill seeing as their last team was so successful, but I’m excited to start writing the second chapter.”
The team is set to debut in Anaheim, California, at the PlayStation Experience on December 3rd and 4th. Afterwards, they will compete at MLG Vegas on December 16th-18th. The complete lineup is as follows:
- Anthony “NAMELESS” Wheeler
- Jeremy “StuDyy” Astacio
- Colt “Havok” McLendon
- Jared “Nagafen” Harrellv
