CWL Dallas Open to Act As Qualifier for Stage 1 of the Global Pro League

Stage 1 of the Call of Duty World League Global Pro League will kick off on April 20th, according to a press release posted by Activision Blizzard.

176 teams, 16 starting in pool play, will compete in the event to win a chunk of the $200,000 USD prize pool and to claim their spot in the GPL at the CWL Dallas Open, which will serve as the final event for teams to earn enough CWL Pro Points to advance into Stage 1. The CWL Dallas Open will run from March 17-19 at the Fort Worth Convention Center in Fort Worth, TX, the same weekend as the SXSW Gaming Expo.

After the Open, Stage 1 will commence at the MLG Arena in Columbus, Ohio, where 16 teams will face off against one another in a weekly LAN.

Those who do not make it into Stage 1 will have a chance to qualify for Stage 2 through the CWL Anaheim Open, which will take place June 16th-18th. The Open will pit the bottom four teams from Stage 1 against the teams from regional qualifiers, and will determine which teams will take the final four slots in Stage 2. Those who compete in Stage 2 will be automatically qualified to compete in the CWL Championships.

The GPL will be following a series of Opens that span both North America and Europe. Each will have several thousand dollars and pro points available to the top competing teams, as well as spots for the league.
