Capcom Pro Tour kicks off with Lupe Fiasco’s DROGAS Light Album Release Party!

To commemorate Street Fighter V’s official launch one year ago, Capcom arranged for a celebratory event where a special guest, Lupe Fiasco, would take on Daigo “The Beast” Umehara in a first-to-three exhibition at the Folsom Street Foundry in San Francisco, CA. The outcome would leave the Capcom community reeling from shock and a refreshed anticipation for the arrival of the newest entry in the Street Fighter franchise.

If you’d like to relive the hype or you are just now hearing about this, check out this clip.

As Street Fighter V will be turning one year old in two weeks from now, Capcom has announced that they will make a return to the Folsom Street Foundry to host a release party for Lupe Fiasco’s latest album, DROGAS Light. Accompanying this occasion will be the reveal of the next mystery character coming to SFV Season 2, as well as a series of fight card exhibitions featuring some of the biggest names in the competitive circuit, including the Capcom Cup 2016 champion, Liquid Nuckledu!

As seen in the image above, the fight card exhibitions are as follows:

  • MAIN EVENT: Nuckledu vs. Ricki Ortiz – rematch from Capcom Cup 2016 Grand Finals
  • Undercard #1: Ryan Ramirez a.k.a. PG FilipinoChamp vs. Daigo Umehara
  • Undercard #2: Echo Fox Justin Wong vs. Darryl “Snake Eyez” Lewis

For those wanting to get in on the action, do not worry! Once the exhibitions conclude, you will get to take part in 8-man SFV tournaments that have prizes on the line, and these will be free to enter. There will also be cosplay contests for those interested in dressing up! All attendants must be at least eighteen years of age to join the festivities.

If you cannot make it or do not meet the age requirements, Capcom Fighters will be broadcasting the event to you live from the Folsom Street Foundry! The event will run from 6 P.M. to 1 A.M. PST.

Commentary will be provided by Stephen “Sajam” Lyon and “Tasty Steve” Scott. Ryan “Gootecks” Guiterrez and Mike Ross from Cross Counter TV’s Excellent Adventures will be the on-stage emcees.

Back to the new character. As those who watched Capcom Cup 2016 may be able to recall, Street Fighter’s lead director, Yoshinori Ono, disclosed to us an interesting fact…after Akuma, five additional characters would make their debut this season, and all of them would be NEW additions to the Street Fighter universe. Speculation as to who these characters are has been running at an all-time high since December, but in two weeks, we’ll have part of our answer!

Who do you think it will be? Let us know in your comments! And make sure you have some space on your calendar to plan for an all-nighter because you won’t want to miss out!
