Bang Bags 1,000th Career Kill

ADC for SK Telecom T1, Bae “Bang” Jun-sik just claimed his 1,000th regular season career kill, making him the second player this season to do so behind Team SoloMid’s Jason “WildTurtle” Tran.

The kill was snagged from Cho “Mata” Se-hyeong during game one of their LCK match against KT Rolster. Bang’s Ezreal trapped Mata’s Thresh in The Box during a team fight in the bottom lane before taking him down, Han “Peanut” Wang-ho snagging a second kill just seconds later.

Most of Bang’s career has been spent with SK Telecom T1, having joined the organization in 2013 under SK Telecom T1 S. He was later moved to the team’s main team in 2014 when Riot changed their rules to disallow sister teams to compete in the same league. It was in 2015 that he would achieve the title of World Champion alongside his teammates and he successfully defended his throne in 2016, becoming the only team in League of Legends history to do so.

Many argue that Bang would have achieved this monumental milestone long ago had it not been for long-time teammate, the Unkillable Demon King Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok, who has been accused of stealing kills from his teammates in critical moments. The most recent instance of his was their match against Samsung Galaxy in Week 5, when an interview with Inven Global’s Byungho “Haao” Kim revealed that Bang had requested that Faker back off on opponents he was clearly ready to take out, only for Faker to scold Bang and tell him to prioritize the game over his individual player stats. Bang ended up walking away from the 2-0 victory teetering on the edge with 999 kills, which Faker claims he would have surpassed if he focused more on damaging SSG’s Nexus than the kills.

“He kept asking me to give him kills, and I said no because I thought it was too risky. He should have done so after at least dealing more damage on enemy Nexus, but he just kept trying to dive.”
