Awesome Games Done Quick 2017 Raises New Goal

The famous video game speed-running event Awesome Games Done Quick wrapped up yesterday, January 15th, and it was a giant success. For those that don’t know AGDQ is an amazing charity where fans donate while watching speed runners and the proceeds go to cancer research for the Prevent Cancer Foundation.

The Prevent Cancer Foundation was founded in 1985. The non-profit organization is focused on cancer prevention and early detection through research, education, and advocacy.

This year was pretty incredible. According to the event’s funding tracker, more than $2.2 million was raised for the Prevent Cancer Foundation! This actually shattered last years collection event’s $1.2 million. Below you can watch the close to four hour Wind Waker HD speed run which is truly awe-inspiring.

There were some pretty awesome speedruns during the course of the weeklong event, including The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD (that you hopefully watched above) and Super Mario Galaxy 2, among so many others, both from the new and retro games. The Dark Souls III speed run is particularly incredible. All the speedruns were archived and you can watch them all here on YouTube.

You can learn more about Awesome Games Done Quick here on the event’s website. Don’t miss the next one for your chance to donate. Did you see one that you liked to watch? Tell us on Twitter.
