In a collaborative effort with the team from Level Up Live, 2GGC proudly announced the SCR Saga yesterday! Like with all their other events, it will be hosted at the Esports Arena in Santa Ana on August 19 – 20, 2017.

The 2GGC series is primarily known for its support of the Super Smash Bros. esports titles, but recently they have begun an expansion into other fighting games. An example would be the ARMS Saga where one of Nintendo’s newest competitive titles was featured alongside Smash Wii-U. Because the SCR Saga supports SoCal Regionals (which occurs on September 22nd), a wider array of fighting games will join Smash Wii-U later this August:

  • Tekken 7
  • Street Fighter V
  • Injustice 2
  • Guilty Gear XRD Revelator 2

Additionally, a total of $5,000 in pot bonuses will be spread out across the lineup. The greatest share of it – $3,000 – will go towards Smash Wii-U singles while Tekken 7 and Street Fighter V will each get a thousand apiece. However, the SCR Saga is not affiliated with other competitive leagues including the Capcom Pro Tour and Tekken World Tour.

To register for the SCR Saga, visit their SmashGG page here. Venue fee currently costs $30 but the price will increase to $40 after August 9th and then to $50 after the 16th. Spectators can purchase a one-day pass for $10 or a two-day pass for $20. All competitors and/or spectators must purchase a pass to participate in the event.

As part of the 2GG Championship Series, the SCR Saga will serve as its next qualifier for those participating in Smash. The tournament winner will qualify into the championship event for this December. The series hosts pot bonuses totaling $100,000 with half of it being distributed across the qualifying events and the other half going to the championship. All events associated with 2GG are brought to you by the Esports Arena in Santa Ana, California.

Given our past experiences working with LevelUp, we’re extremely eager to see how the SCR Saga rolls out! If we’re to recommend any event, it would be both this and SoCal Regionals (more information on that to be released in another post).
